AAPI 문화유산의 달을 기념하는 ‘Panorama of Roots: Showcasing Asian Heritage’ 전시가 뉴욕에서 열린다. 5월 3일부터 29일까지 스타인버그 아트뮤지엄에서 진행되는 전시는 아시아 뿌리를 둔 스물한 명의 예술가들을 한자리에 모아, 문화적 정체성, 이주, 예술적 표현을 탐구하는 기회를 제공한다.
다양한 매체와 시각을 통해 Panorama of Roots는 동아시아계 예술가들의 개별적인 이야기를 조명한다. 이들의 작품은 개인적이면서도 집단적인 역사들을 교차하며, 아시아 문화유산의 깊이와 복합성을 반영(反映)하는 강렬한 시각적 대화를 형성하고 있다.
이 전시를 통해 아시아계 미국인 및 아시아 예술가들은 자신들의 경험을 공유하고, 고정관념을 깨며, 정체성을 보다 깊이 있게 탐구한다.
스테파니 리 큐레이터(가라지아트센터 대표)는 “Panorama of Roots는 전통, 이주, 문화적 기억, 그리고 현대 뉴욕에서의 삶이라는 주제를 통해, 오늘날 변화하는 세계 속에서 문화유산과 정체성이 어떻게 연결되어 있는지에 대해 모든 관객들이 함께 고민하고 공감할 수 있는 기회가 될 것”이라고 기대했다.
전시 오프닝 리셉션은 5월 3일(토) 오후 3시부터 5시까지 열리며, 막걸리와 불고기 등 한국의 음식을 통해 동양 문화를 체험할 수 있다. 오프닝 리셉션 중, 오후 3시부터 약 30분간은 참여 작가인 천세련 작가의 한국 전통 녹차 다도 시연 및 시음회가 진행된다.

TWENTY ASIAN ARTISTS EXPLORE HERITAGE IN A GROUNDBREAKING EXHIBITION
“Panorama of Roots” Celebrates Asian American Artistic Expression at the Steinberg Museum of Art.
The Steinberg Museum of Art at LIU Post is proud to present “Panorama of Roots: Showcasing Asian Heritage,” a captivating group exhibition in celebration of Asian Heritage Month. Running from May 3 to May 29, 2025, this powerful exhibition unites twenty-one distinguished Asian artists in an inspiring exploration of cultural identity, migration, and artistic expression.
The exhibition will kick off with a public reception on Saturday, May 3, from 3:00–5:00 PM, inviting art lovers, community members, and cultural advocates to immerse themselves in a vibrant showcase of contemporary Asian American art.
With a rich array of artistic mediums and perspectives, “Panorama of Roots” features works by artists of East Asian descent, each offering their own unique narrative. Together, they weave a compelling tapestry of stories that reflect the depth, complexity, and vibrancy of Asian heritage through their distinctive creative voices.
This exhibition provides a vital platform for Asian artists to share both personal and collective experiences, challenging stereotypes and presenting deeply nuanced representations of Asian American identity. Through themes of tradition, displacement, cultural memory, and life in contemporary New York, “Panorama of Roots” invites viewers to reflect on the interconnectedness of heritage and identity in today’s ever-evolving world.
The exhibition opening reception will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 3 PM to 5 PM, offering guests a taste of Eastern culture through Korean cuisine, including makgeolli (rice wine) and bulgogi (marinated beef).
During the reception, a traditional Korean green tea ceremony and tasting, led by participating artist Sei Ryun Chun, will be held from 3:00 to approximately 3:30 PM.
